Quality before quantity.

FAQ

  • Quality over Quantity.

At Restorative & Healing Arts, we place more emphasis on producing high-quality art and providing high-quality services. There are many providers that perform the same services with a focus on turning over as many clients as possible. That’s not us.

Our appointments are hard to get and are set up to ensure the best possible results. Please make an effort to attend all 4 of your tattoo appointments. We are highly selective of our clients and will not work on your skin if it is deemed that desirable outcomes can not be reached. We are happy to refer you to another provider or specialist.

  • Pre-Care & Post-Care Instructions

IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT ALL PRE AND POST CARE INSTRUCTIONS ARE FOLLOWED.

Instructions are provided online, during consultation, and after your procedure. If you need clarification or suggestions please reach out via email.(info@restorativeandhealingarts.com) You will receive both digital and printed instructions along with product suggestions based on previous client feedback and peer reports.

  • What product lines do you use?

Please contact me for a full list of currently used products. Because this may change based on the currently published EU guidelines for safe use, it is not published here.

  • How long will my results last?

The logevity of the pigment applcations is determined by the area of implementations, the after care adherence, genetics of skin compesitions, client lifestyle choices, and the long-term care provided for the area. Our pigments have produced results that last anywhere from 1 year (manual implementation and light tones) to 10+ years (machine implementation, area, and more saturated tones).

  • Are pigments FDA approved?

No. None of the pigment lines in the US are currently regulated by the FDA. Though the U.S. doesn’t currently enforce rules on these products, our pigment selections follow strict EU guidelines.

  • Are pigments safe to place into the skin?

Aside from a potential for allergic reaction, infection, or other complication related to opening the skin’s barrier, there are no “known to be harmful” agents placed into the skin.

  • How do I get more information about pigments?

Currently, we use inks from well known suppliers in the industry. Each of these distributors have their product specifications listed on their website. All of them claim their products to meet or exceed the European standards for allowable ingredients and these documentations and certifications (MSDS & CLT) are listed on their websites.

  • So, is the pigment semi-permanent or permanent?

While it is heavily advertised that pigment implantation for PMU is permanent, it is not. The pigments are implanted into a layer of skin that is more superficial than traditional tattoos, if done properly. Due to this, the pigment is likely to fade over the course of 1-3 years and need either a “touch up” or removal.

  • What is the inkless procedure?

On this site, we advertise a ‘Regenerative Inks’ or Inkless services. During this procedure we use needles to apply a serum to the skin, scar, stretchmark, or textured area to help improve the skin’s smoothness. While this is typically done to improve the skin’s appearance to prepare for camouflage, many clients only elect to get the inkless. As with the pigments, we only use high quality products and ingredient lists are made available for review during consultation where we do a ‘patch test’ to see how your body tolerates the product.

  • What is a 'patch test'?

During consultation we set up the products we have available for the procedure you chose. We will take before photos of the treatment area and perform a small area of production implementation to test for allergy or product rejection. The absence of an allergic reaction to this small patch test does not mean that you can’t still have a reaction to a larger application. It does help us to gauge your sensitivity to our products and allow you to see what the process is going to feel like.

  • Do I have to get the patch test?

No, you do have the option to waive the patch test and still get the procedure. You will have an opportunity to chose which you would like during your intake and consultation process. We often schedule the consultation and procedure for the same day, if you decide to waive the patch test.

  • Can I schedule a massage and tattoo on the same day?

No. Unfortunately, it is contraindicated on both sides to receive either of these types of services on the same day.

  • Do I need to shower before I come in?

It is not required to shower prior to your tattoo or massage appointment. It is highly recommended that you shower or present with clean and dry skin for both of these services.

With a tattoo service, it is not recommended for you to shower the area treated for 24 hours after the pigment application.

  • What do i need to wear to my appointment?

For both the massage and tattoo appointments it is recommended that you wear loose and comfortable clothing.

Please remove your contacts prior to your appointment and bring your eye glasses with you, should you be getting eyeliner.
